ABOUT THE Q400
Now in its 7th year, QBR's Queensland 400 is a unique program that aims to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Queensland’s local business heroes – the owners of leading home-grown and home-owned enterprises.
These largely unsung entrepreneurs are the engine room of the Queensland economy, with the 2008 Queensland 400 boasting a combined turnover of $12.8 billion and some 40,000 employees.
Launched in 2002, the Queensland 400 comprises:
- The official listing of the State’s top 400 privately held companies, based on an exclusive survey conducted in association with business advisor BDO Kendalls. To qualify businesses must be privately owned, with their headquarters and majority of shareholders based on Queensland
- A commemorative full-gloss magazine featuring the official Queensland 400 list, analysis and profiles of Queensland 400 members
- The annual Queensland 400 Gala Awards Dinner, at which the official list is unveiled by the Premier of the Day and members recognised via the awarding of membership certificates, the commemorative publication and a series of special awards
- Four supporting Q400 Club breakfast events at which Q400 members gather to network and hear the inside story on how a fellow Queensland 400 member is tackling a common operational or strategic issue.
The Queensland 400 now ranks among the State’s premier business programs, attracting support from key stakeholders and many of our leading private companies (2008: 450).
THE 2009 Q400
In 2009 QBR and its partners will take the Queensland 400 to new heights, with the addition of an expanded numbers of events held across the State, and a landmark new research initiative.
With the assistance of our partners in government, industry and academia, the Queensland 400 will now include an annual research component focused on identifying, and promoting, the key drivers to the success of these crucial businesses.
The results of this landmark research will be presented in an official report to key stakeholders, including government.
They will also determine the focus of our four Q400 Club events, with a combination of leading experts and leading Queensland businesses tackling the key issues facing the State’s leading business owners.
BENEFITS
Members of the Queensland 400 also earn the right to leverage their membership as a powerful marketing tool, through the exclusive use of the official insignia, the members-only Queensland 400 magazine and membership certificates.
Just as importantly, the Queensland 400 draws the attention of governments and other stakeholders to the economic significance and importance of this group of enterprises - and the issues affecting their growth and profitability.
The more businesses that participate, the more powerful the message.
